Situated approximately 150 km from Valencia airport, Benidorm is one of the most popular and internationally recognised tourist towns in the province of Alicante and the Valencian Community.
If there is one city in the Valencian Community that is characterised by its skyscrapers, it is undoubtedly Benidorm. Defined by a distinctive skyline, Benidorm offers the visitor much more than beaches of excellent quality and tall buildings.

What to do in Benidorm?
If Benidorm has become popular with national and international tourism, it is because of its beaches, and the fact that this city has a micro climate that attracts beach tourism practically all year round. It also has fine sandy beaches and excellent water quality. Benidorm's beaches include:
- Playa de Levante, with an extension of just over 2 km of fine sandy beach, is perhaps the most popular beach in this town.

- Playa de Poniente, just over 3 km of fine sandy beach next to a very pleasant promenade.

- Cala Mal Pas, very close to the port, separates the Levante and Poniente beaches. The remains of the old castle of Benidorm, dating from the time of Felipe II, are preserved on this beach. The viewpoint, popularly known as the Balcón del Mediterráneo (Balcony of the Mediterranean), is located on top of it.

- Cala del Tío Ximo, a cove of stones, is located in the Sierra Helada and here you can observe a large number of fish with marine activities such as diving or snorkelling.
- Cala Almadraba, a small unspoilt stone beach.
- Benidorm Island, this small island is located off the coast of Benidorm (about 4 km away). It is home to a large marine fauna, which makes it ideal for activities such as scuba diving or snorkelling, to get there you can rent a motorboat, boat or kayak.

Due to its orography, Benidorm also has great routes for hiking or cycling excursions in the Sierra Helada, Sierra Cortina or even climbing the Puig Campana if you are physically fit enough to do so.

The old town of the city of skyscrapers should not be missed.
For the little ones, Benidorm has another attraction that makes it a year-round destination for families and groups of friends who visit the Terra Mítica amusement park. In addition, the little ones can also have fun at Aqualandia. It is located in the Sierra Helada natural park and the microclimate temperatures mean that it can be visited practically all year round.

What to eat in Benidorm?
In Benidorm you can enjoy a gastronomy based on the Mediterranean diet, with seafood and countryside products, as well as delicious sweets. A typical local starter is the coca farcida, stuffed with ratatouille and tuna.
As in practically every corner of the province of Alicante, visitors can enjoy rice dishes made mainly with fish and seafood. Perhaps the most outstanding dish is the arroz a banda, served in a paella with the rice and, on the side ("a banda" in Valencian), the seafood stew with the elements.
Fish casserole and pebrot are also typical of the area.

As for sweets, the tortas de San Blas (San Blas cakes), which are usually made in February on the feast day of the saint who bears his name, stand out. These are sweetened almond cakes.
